Ipswich Town play host to a resurgent Hull City at Portman Road on Tuesday night as the Championship action this evening features fixtures that had been postponed a few weeks ago due to the bad weather in the UK.

The hosts earned a good point at home on the weekend when they held Sheffield United to a 0-0 draw, and having registered recent back-to-back wins over Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday (both away from home), along with losing just once in their last seven outings in the Championship, Mick McCarthy’s men will be in confident mood here.

However, Ipswich are without a win from their last four at Portman Road, suffering defeats to the top two clubs, Wolves and Cardiff City respectively, but they did gain points against Burton Albion and Sheffield United in 0-0 stalemates amidst an overall record of  8-4-6  24/16. The Tractor Boys must win tonight if they’re to keep their slim hopes of a play-off place alive.

Onto Hull City, and The Tigers are starting to find their roar again as they’ve picked up recent wins over Sheffield United and Saturday’s win against Norwich City which have helped relieve their relegation worries.

Hull now have a useful six point cushion above the relegation zone, and the arrival of manager, Nigel Adkins, has been a steadying influence on the squad following his appointment in early December, and while it took some time to bed down, Hull have recorded three wins from their last six league matches overall.

BUT – there’s still plenty of work for the visitors to do away from home with six defeats from their last seven on their travels, they possess a disappointing away record of  2-5-10  13/27. Although they carry attacking threats, their defence also looks shaky.
