Ipswich Town Prediction

Ipswich Town ended a miserable run of nine league matches without a win in the Championship last Saturday when they recorded a much needed 1-0 home win over Wigan Athletic, but Paul Lambert’s side still remain bottom of the second tier and five points adrift of safety.

It’s been a torrid time for the Tractor Boys so far this season as they sit bottom of the Cham pionship although Lambert’s arrival has seen a change in attitude if not results on the field to date. Ipswich have lost seven of these last nine matches, although they’ve been given a glimmer of hope by their win at Portman Road last time out.

Ipswich hold a home record of 1-6-4 10/15 and they started the season with five straight stalemates but have since lost four of their next five matches before the Wigan win. Defeats to Middlesbrough, QPR, West Brom and Bristol City prove that Ipswich have a long way to go yet if they’re to claw their way back to safety.

The host’s leading goalscorer is Sears (5 goals) but the hosts have scored 2 goals or more just once from their 11 home matches to date.

Sheffield United Prediction

Sheffield United may not be too fazed by having to travel down to east anglia for their clash against Ipswich Town as The Blades have lost their last two home matches on the trot at Bramall Lane with defeats to Leeds United and West Brom.

However, Sheffield United have made improvements on the road in recent times as they’ve collected back-to-back wins at Brentford and Reading in 3-2 and 2-0 wins along with a point at Rotherham United amidst an away record of 6-1-4 18/14.

Whilst the visitors haven’t exactly been consistent on their travels, they’ve recorded the most away wins in the division so far along with Championship leaders, Leeds United, so they stand a good chance of claiming all three points in this encounter.

United also possess the dangerous attacking strike pair of Sharp (11 goals) and McGoldrick (6 goals) who are sure to provide a stern test for Ipswich’s defence here.

Betting Tips Verdict

Until Ipswich can show they’ve turned a corner I’ll continue to oppose them – Sheffield United win here.
