Football – World – World Cup 2018 Betting Tips

Welcome to my World Cup 2018 betting tips, with Iran and Spain kicking off the second round of matches in Group B with Iran being surprise leaders of the group following their opening win over Morocco.

Iran scored a last-gasp winner in the 90th minute through an own goal by Morocco’s striker Bouhaddouz to hand the Iranians a precious three points to start their World cup campaign in excellent fashion, and despite now being expected to be up against it when facing the European big boys, Spain and Portugal, they’ll hope they can get perhaps a point from either game which could send them through to the next phase.

Nevertheless, it’s a tall order for them to get anything out of Spain who were a tad unlucky to gain just a point against Portugal, and with Iran showing very little in terms of goal scoring opportunities against Morocco, their chances in front of goal are expected to be even more slim against the likes of Ramos and Pique, and will need to watch out counter-attacks from Jordi Alba etc.

Iran manager, Carlos Queiroz, may well stick with the same 4-5-1 formation as he used against Morocco, and pack the midfield again to attempt to nullify the waves of attacks from the likes of Iniesta, Isco and David Silva. this obviously means their best chances may be from set-pieces as Iran will try and grind out a point here.

Spain showed character against Portugal despite walking away with just a point in a 3-3 draw which has been the game of the tournament so far. They twice came from behind to level the scores against the Portuguese, and indeed took a 3-2 lead when striker Diego Costa scored his second of the night.

It remained 3-2 up until the fateful 88th minute when Ronaldo stepped up to take a free-kick from just outside the box and he duly delivered, sending Portugal into raptures. The manner of this result may be a blow to Spain who probably would have taken a point if offered before the start of the match, but they know they must make the most of their remaining group matches against Iran this evening, and Morocco.

The Spain of 2014 and this year’s version at Russia are exact polar opposites though, even with all the furore in the background with former national coach, Julen Lopetegui, being sacked just 24 hours ahead of the start of the tournament, as they once again showcased their excellent technical ability along with quick passing and movement off the ball.

Jordi Alba was a threat on the flanks, while Iniesta, Isco and Silva all combined well to create the space for Costa up front to exploit against Portugal, and I’m expecting the same again here against Iran – possibly with even more devastating results.

Spain goalkeeper, De Gea, will also be keen to put his howler behind him here and keep a clean sheet as Spain look to take over at the top of Group B with a win here.

My betting tips system indicates a win to nil for Spain looks the best option.

Pick: Spain win to nil @ 1.53 Coral
