Israel Prediction – Can Israel move closer to qualification?

Israel currently sit in 2nd place in Group G but 5 points behind runaway group leaders, Poland, but Thursday night’s hosts could take a big step towards qualification for Euro 2020 with a win here this evening, and in turn create history for themselves.

The Israeli national team have never qualified for the European Championships in their footballing history, but they stand a very good chance of achieving qualification this time around. A 1-1 draw with Slovenia opened their account and was followed by back-to-back wins against Austria 4-2 at home and a 3-0 win away at Latvia.

Poland dealt out a heavy 4-0 defeat in Warsaw, but Israel still occupy 2nd spot but have the likes of Austria, Slovenia and tonight’s visitors, North Macedonia breathing down their necks. Results are on the up though for Israel particularly at home where the hosts have earned 4 points from their last 2 matches.

Israel have also won 4 of the previous 5 meetings against North Macedonia although they did lose 1-0 at home in the last encounter back in 2017 in a World Cup qualifier.

North Macedonia Prediction – Can North Macedonia make late surge?

The visitors sit in 5th place in this 6-nation Group G with just 4 points from their opening 4 matches of this group stage, but they’re just 3 points adrift of tonight’s hosts, Israel, so a win in Ramat Gan on Thursday night would really put the cat amongst the pigeons and throw the runners-up spot wide open.

With just 3 points separating the four potential runners-up to Poland with Israel, Austria, Slovenia and North Macedonia all vying for 2nd place, accumulating points becomes ever more important from now on. North Macedonia made a good start to their campaign but have since slumped to two defeats on the trot.

An opening 3-1 home win against Latvia gave the visitors a good start and they further added to their points tally with a point in a 1-1 draw away at Slovenia, but back-to-back defeats against Poland (1-0) and Austria (4-1), both at home, have seen their hopes of qualifying for Euro 2020 suffer a major blow.

North Macedonia have also tended to struggle on the road in Euro qualifiers as they’ve failed to win any of their last 9 matches on their travels, and indeed, have managed to record just 1 win out of their last 14 matches, which was a 2-0 win at Andorra some 9 years ago!

Key-Facts – Israel v North Macedonia

  • Israel currently sit in 2nd place in Group G behind leaders, Poland
  • North Macedonia have failed to win any of their last 9 matches on their travels
  • Israel have won 4 of the previous 5 meetings against North Macedonia

Betting Tips Verdict

Israel’s chances are in their own hands and with home advantage and North Macedonia’s poor record away from home, the hosts should collect the points here.
