Visitors Israel face a mountain to climb in Italy for tonight’s Group G clash on the back of three defeats on the trot prior to this encounter as they’ve suffered defeats to Spain 4-1, Albania 3-0 and most damaging of all, a 1-0 loss at home to lowly Macedonia on the weekend.
Even though Israel had previously registered back-to-back wins away from home at Macedonia and Albania in 2-1 and 3-0 victories respectively, they were brought back down to earth very quickly by Spain who tore them apart in a 4-1 demolition.
They now face the other power nation in Italy here this evening, and will find it difficult to break down the Italians in their own backyard I fancy.
