Saturday night’s action is wrapped up with a bottom half encounter between Jeonnam Dragons and Daegu at the Gwangyang Stadium, with both teams desperate to register all three points to lift them out of the Relegation Round positions.
Jeonnam are unbeaten in their last six matches overall in the South Korean top flight, although look a little closer and you’ll find that they’ve drawn five of these. Nevertheless, since their heavy 3-0 defeat at home to league leaders Jeonbuk Motors back in mid-June, they’ve made themselves tougher to beat.
Their home record stands at an indifferent 4-2-4 22/19 although they’re unbeaten in their last two as they’ve drawn 2-2 with Seoul and Jeju United in recent weeks. Keep an eye on striker Brazilian striker Jair (12 goals).
Visitors Daegu currently sit second from bottom in the K-League Classic and above bottom club Gwangju by courtesy of a slightly better goal difference, following a poor sequence of results which have seen them fail to win any of their last seven matches overall.
Like Gwangju, Daegu’s three league wins to date have all come at their Daegu Stadium, while their results away from home have so far failed to chalk up a win on their travels; an away record of 0-5-5 8/14 underlines this fact, as well as failing to score in 4 of their 10 matches on the road.
Although Daegu managed a 2-1 win away at Jeonnam Dragons in their last trip here, this was four seasons ago, and I believe Jeonnam are now better equipped to take the points here tonight.
