Dodin got her qualifying win at this event with a straight-sets win over 7th qualifying seed Varvara Gracheva. She then followed that up in the first round of action with a very convincing 6-2 6-2 straight sets victory over Viktoria Kuzmova. This is a player who really should not be troubling Johanna Konta, if of course, Konta is on her game.
