This is the final match of the quarter final stage of the Masters snooker 2021. It is a heavyweight clash as well.

Both Ronnie O’Sullivan and John Higgins had their respective struggles in the first round of action.

But the clear market leader in the match outright for this fantastic clash is “The Rocket”.

John Higgins Preview – Can Higgins upset Ronnie at the Masters?

John Higgins is the 7/4 underdogs in Masters snooker betting for this contest* (odds taken 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).

The Wizard Of Wishaw needed a deciding frame to get past Mark Allen in the first round.

So that was a long struggle there to close out the match against the Northern Ireland man.

An even sterner test could be awaiting him.

It was in the quarter finals last year that Higgins fell and he has made it past this round of action only once in his last eight Masters appearances.

So the trend from that would be to expect him to fall.

Higgins has lost his last three matches in a row against O’Sullivan, but this is the first time that they will have clashed since 2019.

Our betting prediction:
O’Sullivan 6-4 correct score
5/1

John Higgins is a former Masters champion. But his second and last title in the event was back in 2006.

It has not been a particularly prolific season from him with the best effort coming in reaching the semifinals of the English Open in mid-October.

In Masters Snooker Betting a John Higgins +1.5 handicap is running at a quote of 11/4* (odds taken 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).

He fell in the second round of the Scottish Open and the World Grand Prix, his most recent two ranking tournament efforts.

Ronnie O’Sullivan Preview – Ronnie escapes first round scare

Ronnie O’Sullivan looked down and out in his first round match against Ding Junhui.

“The Rocket” was trailing 5-3 in the match and with Ding having a chance to close out the fixture.

But the Chinese player lost his nerve a bit and O’Sullivan mounted a superb fightback to take the match 6-5.

He produced a lot of character and steel to get himself through to the quarter-finals.

O’Sullivan is the 4/9 odds-on favourite to win this quarter final match* (odds taken 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).

Ronnie O’Sullivan is on the hunt for what will be his record-extending 8th Masters career title.

He gets another tough fixture and the winner of this quarter final will meet surprise semi finalist David Gilbert.

While O’Sullivan has not picked up a ranking title this season, his recent form has been very good.

He reached the final of the Northern Ireland and Scottish Opens while running to the semi finals of the World Grand Prix all in his last four tournaments.
