Juventus are one of the teams near the top of the Italian Serie A who are hot on the heels of current league leaders, Napoli, heading into this Wednesday night’s action, and the hosts will welcome a struggling SPAL outfit to their Allianz Stadium in Torino, knowing anything less than three points here would be a poor result.
Juventus have suffered just one defeat so far this season, which was a surprising 2-1 loss at home to Lazio, but seven league wins to date has placed them within striking distance of claiming top spot with a strong home record of 4-0-1 12/2 under their belts.
Recent wins over Fiorentina, Torino and Udinese, the latter being a 6-2 demolition of the home side on the road, should give the Old Lady plenty of momentum coming into this clash. Juve have won five of their last six at home and they possess some very dangerous attacking personnel in the shape of Dybala (10 goals), Higuain (3 goals) and Mandzukic (2 goals).
Visitors SPAL (Societa Polisportiva Ars et Labor) appear to be facing a mountain to climb if they’re to get anything out of high-flying Juventus on Wednesday night, especially in their own backyard where they’ve been extremely impressive in recent times.
SPAL sit second from bottom prior to Wednesday night’s action, but they’re only one point adrift of the safety positions, but a recent poor run of results which includes six defeats from their last seven matches overall in the Italian top flight, has taken its toll.
This is SPAL’s first ever season in Serie A and they’re finding life difficult in this big step up in quality, not least away from home where they possess a poor record of 0-1-3 1/6 which includes failing to score in three of their four away matches to date.
This should therefore be a straightforward win for Juventus here.
