Preview: Juventus continue to quietly stalk the Serie A leaders. Three points on Saturday, from a fixture they are chasing a ninth consecutive Serie A win as hosts, could potentially see them move within three of the summit depending on how other results go across this Easter weekend.

Juventus – Old Lady not conceding Scudetto challenge just yet?

Goals from Matthijs De Ligt and Dusan Vlahovic – the latter now up to 22 Serie A goals for the season, two fewer than leading goalscorer Ciro Immobile – last time out against Cagliari ensured Juventus turned in a winning response to defeat to Inter in Derby D’Italia. Massi Allegri’s men had to show their fighting qualities, though, to overturn an early deficit but were worthy winners ultimately (xG: CAG 0.19 – 1.63 JUV).

The Bianconeri are creating chances more freely these days, and dispatching them with greater regularity too. That now four games in the last six (W5 L1) scoring multiple times. However, they have found putting the ball in the net a more difficult proposition in Turin. Despite one loss in 11 competitive fixtures (W8 D2) at Juventus Stadium, Juve have scored no more than once in three of the last four Serie A home games.

Key Stat: All of Juventus’ eight previous wins as a Serie A host were ‘to nil’. In total, seven teams have scored an away goal vs Juventus in 2021-22, with Sampdoria, in a 3-2 loss in September, the only member not to depart with at least a point (D3 L3).

Bologna – Rossoblu set for swift return to mid-season slumber?

Prior to the visit from Sampdoria in the previous round, Bologna had managed one win from eleven league games this calendar year. They were also winless in five (D3 L2) since leaving it late in mid-February to condemn Spezia to a narrow-margin defeat over at the Rossoblu’s Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. So, last week’s deserved result at home to Sampdoria (2-0 win) came somewhat out of the blue.

Bologna are unbeaten since returning from last month’s international break, following up their draw away to Serie A leaders AC Milan by inflicting a fifth defeat in six on La Samp. Backing those results up with a positive showing in Turin looks a tall order, though. Bologna are without an away league win since December (D2 L4), netting just three since going to Sassuolo and easing to victory (3-0) in the run up to Christmas.

Key Stat: The Rossoblu’s record away to the league’s better teams makes for grim reading. Bologna have taken two points from a possible 18 (D2 L4) away to sides currently eighth or higher, sustained heavy defeats at Inter (6-1), Lazio (3-0) and Napoli (3-0).

Juventus Vs Bologna Betting Advice

Falling behind early doors in last week’s visit to Cagliari might have suggested a Juventus team still feeling sorry for themselves after losing to Inter in their previous league outing. However, Massi Allegri’s men rallied to dominate the contest in Sardinia, and deservedly departed with maximum points in toe. Juventus’ fifth win in six in Serie A, with that loss to Inter their only blemish since late November (W12 D5).

Juventus Vs Bologna – Key Facts:

  • Victory this weekend would mark a ninth in a row at home to Bologna in Serie A for Juventus, who were 2-0 winners both in last season’s home encounter as well as this season’s clash in Sardinia last December.
  • We could conceivably witness another 2-0 success for the Bianconeri. There have been no more than two match goals in Juventus’ last 11 Serie A home games, and in all of Bologna’s last three away from home.
  • Juventus’ eight previous Serie A home wins were all ‘to nil’. They now face a Bologna side which has scored once across its past four away matches.

All but one of nine Juventus home wins in the league this term were without conceding. So the importance on the hosts keeping things tight defensively cannot be overstated, even against a Bologna outfit with one goal in its last four away outings. Saturday’s visitors to Juventus Stadium average less than a goal a game on their travels this terms, and lost on each of the last eight visits to Juventus (four to nil) in the league.
