Juventus Preview – Will Pirlo’s Juve bounce back following the draw away to Roma last week?

For the second straight season Juventus begin with a new head coach and an inevitable change in style. Andrea Pirlo was something of a surprise choice to replace Maurizio Sarri. in the close season. Despite Sarri leading the club to another Serie A title, an underwhelming showing in the Champions League coupled with an unsuccessful attempt to implement his philosophy meant the decision was made easy to go in a new direction after just one season.

Pirlo has only just been appointed as manager of the club’s youth team when he was given the biggest job in Italian football. A club legend as a player, he will certainly not be overawed by the challenge which he faces.

A comfortable 3-0 win at home to Sampdoria to begin the season was followed with a 2-2 draw against Roma last time out. It’s not a disaster by any means as the Stadio Olimpico is traditionally one of the most difficult away venues for the Turin side. But it does put a wee bit more pressure on Pirlo and his players to get the win tomorrow.
Cristiano Ronaldo got both goals in that draw in addition to the one he scored on the opening day. His importance to the team this season is being underlined with each passing game.

Napoli Preview – Can Napoli continue their fine start to the season against the dominant force in Italy?

This is Gennaro Gattuso’s first full season in charge of Napoli and the signs are positive – both on the back end of last season and the first couple of games in the new campaign. The Naples club were victorious on penalties against Juve in the Coppa Italia final back in June which brought the first piece of silverware to the club in six years.

They may have missed out on Champions League qualification but that failure can’t be levelled at the current manager who took over when Napoli were in something of a crisis.

The start to this season for Gattuso’s men could barely have been better. It’s been a kind start with games against A 2-0 win away to Parma and then thrashing Genoa by six at home doesn’t look much on the face of it due to the opposition. But the manner of the victories has been impressive.

Club record-signing Victor Osimhen already looks like he’ll be the significant addition they hoped and will be a key part of their new look attack. Hirving Lozano – who arrived last season for big money – has also looked like a much better.

Juventus vs Napoli Betting Advice

It’s one of the most historic fixtures in Italian football and will be an early treat at this stage of the new season. Juventus have an phenomenal home record in the league with only one defeat in their last 41 games. That’s the size of the challenge which faces the visitors who lost here as well as away to Inter, Atalanta, Lazio and Roma in the previous season.

Key Facts – Juventus vs Napoli Betting Tip

  • Juve required a Cristiano Ronaldo brace to come from behind twice and grab a point away to Roma last week
  • Napoli have scored eight goals and yet to concede in their first two games of the campaign
  • Both teams have scored in six of the last eight meetings between these two in Serie A

Juventus are still very much in a transitional period with Pirlo in charge. It’s also been a difficult start to the season in terms of their opening fixtures.

This could be a game we see a few goals with so many attacking threats on both sides. The trends are also good in that six of the last eight meetings in the league have finished with both teams to scoring. That could well happen again tomorrow. However, I’m backing the home team to take all three points in the end.
