Koln Preview – Can Koln continue impressive form and make it six wins in their last seven matches?

It’s been a season of two halves for Koln so far and head coach Markus Gisdol – who took over in November – will be hoping his impact since coming in can continue for the remainder of the season. If it does then Koln were certainly have enough to stay up but as it is, with six points separating them from second bottom Werder Bremen, they are very much still involved in the relegation battle.

A really impressive feature of Koln under Gisdol is their home form. They have won their last four at home and are unbeaten since the change in coach, taking 13 points from a possible 15.

The visit of Bayern is undoubtedly the biggest test to that unbeaten record, of course, and it’s a team they have a terrible record against in general (no wins in their last 11 meetings taking just a point in that run of games). Could this be the day where they change that?!

Drawing a blank against Leipzig last week was the first time Bayern have not scored in a Bundesliga match this season. They have scored the joint most away goals in the league (25) and have the top scorer in Robert Lewandowski who failed to find the net for the first time this calendar year.

The Polish striker will be desperate to put that right in this game and continue what has been a fantastic personal season to date. He scored twice in the 4-0 win over Koln earlier in the campaign and scored the last time he played here back in May 2018. So it’s a team who enjoys playing against.
