Champions League at Unibet

The 1st legs of the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League continue on Wednesday night and our next preview features an encounter between Russian club, Krasnodar, and Portuguese outfit, Porto, as the betting tips continue at the Stadion FK Krasnodar.

Krasnodar Prediction – Can Krasnodar gain crucial lead?

The new Russian domestic season didn’t start well for Krasnodar who suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Akhmat Grozny.

However, the hosts have since bounced back with two wins and a draw and they now occupy 6th place in the early Premier League standings.

Wins against Ufa 3-2 and Sochi 3-0 along with a solid point against Zenit in a 1-1 draw away from home send the hosts into this 1st leg in confident mood.

Even though they didn’t win last time out, that draw away at Zenit will have served as a timely boost for Krasnodar ahead of this important 1st leg tie with Porto.

Overall form on home turf at their Stadion FK Krasnodar has been pretty good as the hosts have lost just 3 of their last 25 matches in all competitions.

It’s difficult to say how well Krasnodar will fare overall in this two-legged affair with Porto as this is the Russian club’s first foray into Champions League football.

Also, they’ve never played Porto before in any competition beforehand, so it’s hard to guage how they’ll go in this 1st leg.

Porto Prediction – Can Porto use their experience?

Porto narrowly missed out on claiming the domestic Portuguese Primeira Liga title at the end of last season as they were pipped at the post by Benfica.

Just 2 points separated the two teams with Benfica gaining automatic entry to the group stages of the Champions League.

As runners-up, Porto have to secure their entry via these qualifying rounds of the competition, starting with a two-legged tie against Krasnodar.

The new domestic season hasn’t started yet so Porto have had to make do with pre-season friendlies in preparation.

The visitors have played 5 club friendlies to date, which includes 4 wins and 1 defeat; wins against Agueda, Fulham, Real Betis and Getafe – loss to Monaco.

Their away form is very similar to that of Krasnodar’s form at home though as Porto have lost just 3 of their last 24 away matches in all competitions.

Porto head into this 1st leg on the back of two defeats on the trot on the road in the Champions League following last season’s defeats at Roma and Liverpool.

But it’s just 3 defeats out of their last 9 away ties in this competition, along with invaluable previous experience under their belts too.

Key-Facts – Krasnodar v Porto

  • Krasnodar have lost just 3 of their last 25 matches in all competitions at home
  • Porto have lost just 3 of their last 24 away matches in all competitions
  • Krasnodar have never played in the Champions League before

Betting Tips Verdict

As this is Krasnodar’s first venture at this level, it seems prudent to back Porto with the draw no bet option here.
