Krasnodar Preview – Russian side on elimination brink?
After surrendering a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 in Spain against the ten men of Sevilla on Matchday 3, FC Krasnodar (D1 L2) remain on one point from three three games. It leaves them in a perilous situation in Group E knowing a third defeat of the campaign would consign them to an early exit from the competition, despite having a further two group games – at home to Rennes and away to Chelsea – left to contest.

That they did so whilst playing the entire second half with a man less only made their spirited fightback all the more impressive.
Repeat the trick in Russia, where their record isn’t the best it must be said, and the Spanish side will be playing knockout football in the Champions League in 2021. Sevilla sit second in Group E, level on seven points with Chelsea and six clear of Krasnodar and Rennes. Sevilla are favourites and would qualify for the latter stages should they oblige, but were untidy to say the least in the reverse fixture, which was at home, and have toiled on the road in 2020/21 where they are without a win in four (D2 L2).
