It is a Kyren Wilson vs Ronnie O’Sullivan showdown that we will have for the final of the 2020 World Championships.

Both made it across the finish line in their respective semi-finals in dramatic fashion.

It leaves the “Rocket” as the strong odds-on favourite to collect the win, which would make him the most successful player in the history of the game.

Kyren Wilson Preview – Can Wilson cause a big Final upset?

After a dramatic final frame in his semi final against Anthony McGill, Kyren Wilson moved through to his first World Championship Final.

That final frame had a whole host of misses, fouls and in the end, it was a huge fluke on the green that Wilson received to get him there.

Wilson had received a walkover in the first round after his scheduled opponent Anthony Hamilton withdrew.

In the second round he claimed a 13-9 victory over Martin Gould.

That set him up for a huge clash against current world number one and reigning World Champion Judd Trump.

Wilson pulled off a huge underdog success there, beating Trump 13-9.

During his run to the final this year, Wilson has posted six century breaks, bettered only by Ronnie O’Sullivan.

Wilson is W2 D4 in his six previous matches against Ronnie O’Sullivan.

The last meeting happened this year at the Welsh Open at the semi final stage and Wilson claimed a 6-5 win in that one.

For the final of the 2020 Snooker World Championship, Wilson is the 5/2 underdog* (odds taken 23:55 GMT, Friday, 14th August).

Of the 75 frames that the two have completed, Wilson is W32 L43 so he’s not actually done all that bad against O’Sullivan.

Ronnie O’Sullivan Preview – World Championship #6 for the Rocket?

Ronnie O’Sullivan was up against three-time World Champion Mark Selby in his semi final match.

That one also went to a decider after O’Sullivan had managed to pull himself level from 16-14 down.

There was a tense finish to that one as well, with O’Sullivan missing the final red which in turn led to a long tactical battle.

The Rocket forced an error from his opponent and went on to sweep the colours.

It has been some tournament from O’Sullivan who seems to have trodden on a lot of toes along the way.

He opened his account with a 10-1 win over Thepchaiya Un-Nooh before claiming a 13-10 high-quality win over Ding Junhui.

The Rocket then took victory by the same scoreline over Mark Williams, who he had upset because of some comments about amateur players.

Then in his semi final, O’Sullivan got under the skin of Mark Selby by aggressively playing “hit and hope” style escapes from snookers as opposed to planned ones.

You just never know what you are going to get from O’Sullivan, but here he is, in what is his seventh World Championship Final.

He is looking for his sixth title at the tournament and if he wins it, it would be his 37th ranking title, putting him clear of Stephen Hendry’s record.

With O’Sullivan such a strong favourite in the match outright, the handicap market has to be visited.

O’Sullivan -4.5 is at even money there as he goes in search of more success at The Crucible* (odds taken 23:55 GMT, Friday, 14th August)

Kyren Wilson vs Ronnie O’Sullivan Betting Advice

Ronnie O’Sullivan has had patches of this tournament where he hasn’t played great.

He has been bemoaning his own cue action in the last couple of rounds and at times, especially on long shots and snooker escapes, it wasn’t the greatest.

But there have been explosive moments from him, like in the latter stages of his semi final, where he just turned on the afterburners and was unplayable.

Do we expect Wilson to do the same to O’Sullivan? We can’t quite see it happening in the best of 35-frame finale.
