Leeds United’s impressive six match sequence without defeat ended in abrupt fashion away at bottom placed Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon in a 1-0 defeat, but they now return to Elland Road where they get a chance to quickly redeem themselves when they entertain Nottingham Forest on New Years Day.
Leeds had strung together five wins during this recent run of form which saw the west Yorkshire outfit record wins over Barnsley, QPR, Norwich City, Hull City and Burton Albion, but having won three of their last four at home, they’ll be keen to set the record straight here.
Leeds hold a fairly solid home record of 6-3-3 17/9 which includes six clean sheets as manager, Thomas Christiansen, has tightened things up at the back for the hosts, while the likes of Roofe (7 goals), along with Lasogga and Alioski (5 goals apiece) provide the cutting edge up front.
Nottingham Forest’s inconsistent streak was evident once again on Saturday when they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at their City Ground to struggling Sunderland who now seem to be finding some traction under new manager, Chris Coleman.
The loss to the Black Cats became Forest’s third defeat in four matches, having previously suffered defeats to Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday, and the outlook looks even bleaker away from home as the Tricky Trees have now gone five matches without success on their travels.
Indeed, Forest have gained just one away win from their last eight on the road amidst a disappointing away record of 3-1-8 16/25 which includes just one clean sheet for their troubles.
