The early kick-off in the Championship at lunchtime on Saturday features a mouthwatering clash between Leeds United and Nottingham Forest as the betting tips continue at Elland Road with Leeds looking to record back-to-back wins.

Leeds United Prediction – Can Leeds grab back-to-back wins?

Marcelo Bielsa’s side quickly put last season’s play-off disappointment behind them last weekend when they grabbed a very welcome three points.

Last season’s play-off semi-final loss to Derby County was quickly forgotten (for a while anyway), when Leeds registered a resounding 3-1 win away at Bristol City.

They now return to Elland Road for their first home match of this new Championship season on Saturday lunchtime where they’ll play host to an inconsistent Nottingham Forest outfit.

Although they ended their season on home turf on a low note after losses to Wigan Athletic and Derby County, Leeds will be confident of another three points here.

Before their 3-game slump at home at the end of the season, Leeds had won 5 of their previous 6 matches at Elland Road which included wins over West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds midfielder and playmaker, Pablo Hernandez was a constant threat in last week’s win at Bristol City and Nottingham Forest will need to close him down quickly here.

The hosts will need to do without the services of Kemar Roofe though as the former forward has joined Belgian side, Anderlecht.

Patrick Bamford will therefore need to step up but I suspect he’ll relish the opportunity of spearheading this Leeds attack.

Nottingham Forest Prediction – Can Nottingham Forest upset Leeds?

Nottingham Forest finished in a disappointing 9th place at the end of last season’s Championship campaign but in truth they were a long way off the play-off pack.

Forest not only fell short in physical points tally (they ended up 8 points adrift of 6th placed Derby County), but also in terms of resilience and consistency.

These shortcomings were evident yet again last weekend when they suffered an opening day defeat at their City Ground to West Brom.

Despite taking the lead through a great strike from midfielder Matty Cash, Nottingham Forest’s familiar problems re-surfaced again as they ended up losing 2-1.

Nottingham Forest’s cause wasn’t helped by two goalkeeping howlers by new signing Arijanet Muric who is likely to still be having nightmares after last weekend.

The visitors now hit the road and face a trip up to Yorkshire to face an up-beat Leeds United outfit, and it doesn’t bode well for Forest here.

With just 1 away win from their last 14 matches on their travels, which was a 1-0 loss at floundering QPR, this trip looks fraught with danger.

Neither does the situation of their forwards scoring goals as last season’s leading goalscorer, Lewis Grabban, has scored just 2 goals from his last 21 matches overall.

Key-Facts – Leeds United v Nottingham Forest

  • Leeds United reached the play-offs at the end of last season in the Championship
  • Nottingham Forest won just 1 of their last 14 away matches in the Championship
  • Leeds are unbeaten in their last 3 home matches against Forest in the second tier

Betting Tips Verdict

Leeds United with their tails up should account for an inconsistent Nottingham Forest outfit here.
