Friday night brings us an all-Yorkshire derby between Leeds United and Sheffield United at Elland Road as the hosts, Leeds, will be looking to build upon their recent revival where they beat Bristol City away from home last weekend.
Leeds United bounced back from three previous defeats on the trot to record a 3-0 win at Bristol City following earlier losses to Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday and Reading, and they’ll now look to re-ignite their play-off ambitions at Elland Road where they possess a solid looking home record of 3-2-1 10/3.
Prior to defeat last time out on home turf to Reading, Leeds had put together a three match winning sequence against Burton Albion, Birmingham City and Ipswich Town, and with midfielder Saiz and forward Lasogga (4 goals apiece), the hosts should get something from this match.
Sheffield United have acquitted themselves really well in their return to the Championship so far this season after a six year absence as The Blades currently occupy third place in the English second tier and level on points with second placed Cardiff City.
Blades manager, Chris Wilder, has done a fantastic job with his side and the rewards are there for all to see as his team have racked up four wins from their last five league matches with wins over city rivals Sheffield Wednesday, along with additional wins over Wolves, Ipswich Town and Reading.
However, Sheffield United have been inconsistent away from home so far this season, and although they’ve registered wins at Sunderland, Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday, all three of these victories have been achieved against bottom half sides, amidst an overall away record of 3-0-3 8/8.
I’ll therefore back Leeds with the reasonably priced draw no bet option.
