Championship Betting at Betfair

Leeds United Prediction

Leeds United’s short stay at the top of the Championship ended when Norwich City registered a 3-2 win over Hull City during the week, but nevertheless, Leeds will be in confident mood ahead of this Yorkshire derby having won five of their last six matches overall in the Championship which has maintained their position in one of the automatic promotion places.

Recent wins against Swansea City, Bolton Wanderers, West Brom, Bristol City and Reading – the latter two both being away from home, have strengthened Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s automatic promotion claims, and another win here would really send out a statement of intent.

The hosts have also won four of their last five matches at Elland Road amidst a solid home record of 12-3-3 32/15, but the hosts are still capable of conceding goals at home, even if they do win. Nine of Leeds United’s 18 home matches have seen both teams score, and with the likes of midfielder Klich (8 goals) along with forwards Roofe (14 goals), Alioski (7 goals) and Bamford (6 goals), the hosts look set to see the hosts notch again in this clash.

Key-Facts – Leeds United v Sheffield United

  • Leeds United have won 4 of their last 5 matches at home in the Championship
  • Sheffield United are unbeaten in their last 4 away matches in the second tier
  • 4 of the last 7 meetings between these two clubs have seen both teams score

Sheffield United Prediction

Sheffield United sit in 3rd place and are just two points behind their Yorkshire rivals, Leeds United as Chris Wilder’s side look to cause an upset at Elland Road and steal Leeds’s thunder in their own backyard.

The Blades have also produced results in recent weeks that have been worthy of automatic promotion as the visitors are unbeaten in their last nine matches overall in the Championship which includes six wins and three draws.

Within this impressive sequence of results is an equally impressive seven clean sheets for Wilder’s side as they’re really staking their own claims for promotion in the run-in to this successful campaign to date.

The visitors are unbeaten in their last four matches away from home too, although they’ve been a little more circumspect as these include three draws with Norwich City, Aston Villa and local rivals, Sheffield Wednesday as well as a 1-0 win away at West Brom at The Hawthorns.

Sheffield United’s away record stands at 8-5-5 28/21 which also shows a level of vulnerability at the back despite their recent clean sheets, but they’ll also be confident of getting on the scoresheet here with prolific striker Sharp (22 goals) along with his trusty side-kick, McGoldrick (12 goals).

Betting Tips Verdict

Being a local derby as well as the obvious importance attached to this clash, it’s hard to predict a straight winner. There’s a reasonable chance this could end up a draw, but with both teams possessing dangerous attacking personnel, I’ll opt for both teams to score here.
