After a crucial home win last time out, Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United will be hoping to get the better of Mark Bowen’s Reading at Elland Road in the EFL Championship this Saturday afternoon. The home side head into this one as the odds-on favourites with the bookies. Can Leeds keep the pressure on leaders West Bromwich Albion with a big three points this weekend?

Leeds United Preview – Will Bielsa’s troops get the three points on home turf?

Leeds United picked up a vital home win over fellow promotion hopefuls Bristol City last time out. Luke Ayling’s early goal proved to be the difference between the two sides. United have been in patchy form of late, as a 1-0 loss to lowly Wigan Athletic at Elland Road was sandwiched in between home wins over Millwall and Bristol City.

Leeds have struggled to replicate their early-season form, as the Whites have picked up just three wins from their last 12 Championship matches. However, after back-to-back defeats to Wigan and Nottingham Forest, Leeds have turned a corner of late, drawing at Brentford and beating Bristol City.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men have one of the best home records in the Championship. The Yorkshire side have won nine of 16, drawing four and losing just three of the other seven. Only Preston North End, Derby County and Fulham have picked up more home points thus far. Can Leeds secure a tenth home league victory of the season on Saturday?

Reading Preview – Can the Royals make it back-to-back away wins?

Reading could not buy a league win for love nor money at the start of the year. After beating Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage on New Year’s Day, which was their fourth successive league win, the Royals went seven Championship matches without victory, drawing four and losing three.

Last weekend, though, Reading put that poor run to bed with a much-needed win against Sheffield Wednesday. The Berkshire club were by far the better team at Hillsborough, with Yakou Meite, George Puscas and Sam Baldock scoring in a resounding 3-0 win. Each of Reading’s last three Championship victories have come away from home.

On the whole, it’s been another disappointing campaign for the Royals, who have spent all season in the bottom half of the Championship table. Still, Mark Bowen’s boys will be hoping to finish with a flourish. At the time of writing, Reading are 15th on 42 points, 11 points away from the top six. Can they cause an upset at Elland Road at the weekend?

Leeds United vs Reading Betting Advice

Leeds have won each of their last three meetings with Reading, keeping clean sheets in all three. Back in November, United left the Madejski Stadium with a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to Jack Harrison’s late goal.

Key Facts – Leeds United vs Reading Betting Tip

  • Leeds have won two of their last three at Elland Road
  • Reading’s last three Championship victories have been away from home
  • Both teams picked up league wins last weekend

Leeds will be hoping to build on last weekend’s vital victory over Bristol City. Reading have claimed some eye-catching results on the road this term, but the home team should come out on top in this one. Having kept a clean sheet last Saturday, I fancy Leeds to win to nil again (20/21).
