Leeds United registered a very useful three points in their last match with a 1-0 win away at Molineux against Wolves and Garry Monk’s boys now host new-boys Burton Albion at Elland Road on Saturday as they seek back-to-back wins in the Championship.
Leeds are now starting to gather some momentum back at Elland Road too under the guidance of Monk as they have now gone four matches without defeat on home soil having won three of the last four with wins gained over Blackburn Rovers, Ipswich Town and Barnsley along with a point shared with Wigan Athletic last time out.
After a shaky start, Monk now appears to have his side playing in his style and the points are starting to come, while in Chris Wood he has a striker that has scored goals on a consistent basis with 56 goals of his career total of 65 in the league have been in the Championship.
Visitors Burton Albion have done reasonably well in their first ever season in the Championship to date as they sit in 15th place as they’ve held their own so far in this new campaign. Manager Nigel Clough would also have been delighted with his side’s 2-0 home win over Birmingham City last Friday which puts them five points clear of the bottom four.
Burton have suffered just one defeat in their last five in the Championship which was a 2-0 loss away at Ipswich Town, and I daresay they’ll be heavily depending upon their form at their Pirelli Stadium to keep them out of trouble this term.
The Brewers are yet to register an away win at this level this season with an overall away record of 0-4-3 8/13 and they now come up against a Leeds United outfit who are starting to build momentum.
