Following impressive back-to-back wins over Chelsea and Manchester City in recent matches, Claude Puel’s side can move within just one point of Manchester United if they take all three points against a poor travelling Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon.
The Foxes have collected a valuable six points over the Christmas period already with a 1-0 win at Chelsea and a 2-1 home win over Manchester City, and their home record stands at a reasonable looking 4-2-3 12/9 which includes just one defeat from their last five matches on home turf.
The defeat was a 2-0 loss to high-flying Tottenham but recent wins against Watford and Manchester City along with draws with West Ham and Burnley have helped The Foxes into 7th place. Midfielder Maddison (5 goals) and Vardy (6 goals) represent Leicester’s best chances of scoring here.

Cardiff City managed to hold Crystal Palace to a 0-0 draw on Boxing Day at Selhurst Park which would have delighted manager Neil Warnock, but The Bluebirds face another tough challenge on the road in the east midlands when they make their way to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.
Overall, Cardiff have registered just one win from their last five matches which was a 1-0 home win over Southampton, but recent defeats to West Ham, Watford and Manchester United have prevented the Welsh club from moving further away from the relegation zone.
Cardiff sit just one league position above the bottom three but they do possess a valuable three point cushion over 18th placed Burnley ahead of the last weekend’s fixtures of 2018. An away record of 0-2-7 5/18 also doesn’t fill me with much confidence of the visitors getting anything out of a confident Leicester City outfit, particularly when you consider Cardiff have failed to score in 5 of their 9 away matches to date.
Indeed, Cardiff have scored the fewest goals on the road in the Premier League to date, and are still without a win on their travels this term.
