Marseille – Sampaoli targeting fifth-straight away win to nil?

A fourth successive Ligue 1 victory for Nice last time around ensured Marseille, held 1-1 at home by the ten men of Lille in their latest outing, were demoted to third ahead of Saturday’s awkward-looking trip to Stade Bollaert-Delelis. L’OM were also held at this ground on their most recent visit, surrendering a 2-0 half-time lead to draw 2-2, but retain a positive record overall having not lost there since 2009 (W2 D1).

Should they return to winning ways at this ground, they will finish the day back in second ahead of Nice’s visit to Metz the following day. Jorge Sampaoli must retain the utmost confidence in his side completing their objective after seeing them produce the strongest away form in Ligue 1 this season (based on points-per-game; W6 D2 L1), winning the last four said matches without so much as conceding a goal.

Key Stat: The goals rarely flow when Marseille are in town. 10 of the past 11 Ligue 1 encounters involving L’OM returned fewer than three goals, while this was the case in all of their previous nine away from home in the competition.
