Levante Preview – Frogs can relish return to home comforts?
Reduced to ten men for the final 15 minutes once forward Roger was dismissed for a second bookable offence, Levante (12th – W10 D4 L14) must have thought a result was beyond them on Friday when Valencia finally opened the scoring late on. The visitors were not done, though, as Gonzalo Melero’s goal eight minutes into time added on ensured the spoils were shared in the final Valencia Derby of the season.

Patience was required, though, with a breakthrough not coming until the hour mark, when a couple of quick-fire goals from Lucas Ocampos and Fernando settled a contest they largely dominated.
Playing a day earlier than their opponents could come in handy with such a hectic schedule ahead. More importantly, Sevilla strengthened their position in the pursuit of Champions League football for next season and continues to occupy the ‘best of the rest’ position in third. Next time out sees them host leaders Barcelona, so Julen Lopetegui’s men cannot really afford a pointless return from this outing.
It bodes well, therefore, that this team are among the strongest travellers in La Liga during 2019/20. Real Madrid being the only side to have taken more points from said matches this season than Sevilla (W7 D3 L4). However, the majority of their better form on the road culminated early in the season; their last four away fixtures garnering a rather underwhelming return of four points out of twelve (W1 D1 L2).
