Minnows Liechtenstein take on the mighty Germany this Thursday in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier. After suffering a shock home defeat to North Macedonia in their last qualifying fixture back in March, the Germans will be looking for a handsome victory at Kybunpark in St. Gallen. Liechtenstein have conceded ten goals in three qualifiers already, and they could be on the wrong end of another hammering on Thursday. We have the latest odds and predictions.

Liechtenstein Preview – Another heavy defeat for the Blues-Reds?

Martin Stocklasa’s Liechtenstein are without doubt the weakest link in 2022 World Cup qualifying Group J. In truth, the minnows are just making up the numbers, but they did manage to score in a 4-1 home defeat to Iceland in their last qualifier.

On matchday one, Liechtenstein were beaten 1-0 by Armenia in Vaduz, with an own goal seven minutes from time costing them a famous point. In game two, though, the Blues-Reds were thumped 5-0 by North Macedonia in Skopje.

Liechtenstein have lost 4-0 and 6-0 in their last two qualifiers against Germany, and they could be in for a similar hammering on Thursday. Stocklasa’s side are the huge underdogs at 50/1, with some bookies even offering crazy odds of 450/1.

Germany Preview – Easy win for Flick’s troops?

Under Joachim Low – who left the national role after the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament in the summer – Germany picked up six points from a possible nine in Group J. Die Mannschaft have work to do, as they are currently behind Armenia and North Macedonia in the Group J table. Still, the Germans remain the red-hot favourites to finish top and secure automatic qualification to next year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Goals from Leon Goretzka, Kai Havertz and Ilkay Gundogan gave Germany a comfortable 3-0 win over Iceland in their opener. They followed that up with a narrow victory in Romania, with Serge Gnabry scoring the only goal in Bucharest. However, Germany were stunned by North Macedonia in match three, crashing to a shock 2-1 loss in Duisburg.

Liechtenstein vs Germany Betting Advice

These two nations last went head-to-head in 2010 World Cup qualifying. The Germans cruised to two wins, winning 6-0 away from home and 4-0 on home turf. In a friendly way back in 2000, the Germans thumped Liechtenstein 8-2, with Ulf Kirsten netting a hat-trick, while the likes of Oliver Bierhoff, Mehmet Scholl and Carsten Jancker were also among the scorers.

Key Facts – Liechtenstein vs Germany Betting Tip

  • Germany have scored ten goals in their last two against Liechtenstein
  • The Germans fell to a shock home loss to North Macedonia in their last qualifier
  • Liechtenstein have shipped ten goals in three qualifying games

Germany were embarrassed by the ever-improving North Macedonia in March, but they will not make the same mistake here. This will be a stroll in the park for Hansi Flick’s Nationalelf, and we like the look of Germany to win -4 at 8/11.

Germany will be looking to dominate this qualifier on Swiss soil. Put a few quid on Flick’s side to win both halves of this one at 2/11.
