Lincoln City Preview – Can the Imps secure back-to-back home wins?
Michael Appleton’s Lincoln City kicked off their League One season with a decent away draw with Gillingham. A few days later, after a 2-2 draw in normal time, City were beaten on penalties by Shrewsbury Town in the first round of the EFL Cup.
Lincoln got back to winning ways last weekend, beating Fleetwood Town 2-1 at Sincil Bank. After seeing their team go a goal down, the Imps supporters might have feared the worse. However, Appleton’s troops responded like any genuine promotion candidates would, coming from behind to win 2-1 thanks to an Anthony Scully double.
After finishing in a lofty fifth position last season, Lincoln are among the favourites for promotion this term. Can the East Midlands outfit pick up all three points from this one?
Bolton Wanderers Preview – Can the Trotters battle to a third draw in a row?
Ian Evatt’s Bolton Wanderers have been involved in two high-scoring affairs in League One so far. On matchday one, the Trotters drew 3-3 with MK Dons at the University of Bolton Stadium, with Alex Baptiste’s goal in injury time rescuing a point.
Bolton were then involved in another six-goal thriller last time out, this time at Wimbledon. Wanderers led 3-1 with 15 minutes to go, but the home side battled back to snatch a point, scoring twice in one second-half minute. Sandwiched in between those dramatic draws was a penalty shootout victory over EFL Championship side Barnsley in the first round of the EFL Cup.

When these two teams last met, Lincoln wiped the floor with Bolton. The Imps ran riot on home soil back in January 2020, with Harry Anderson, Tyler Walker and John Akinde (2) on target in a 5-1 romp. The previous game, ten years earlier, ended in a 4-0 win for Bolton, who were a Premier League outfit at the time.

Lincoln have turned themselves into one of the big hitters in League One, and we fully expect the Imps to be there or thereabouts in the battle for promotion this year. However, we fancy a draw in this one. The draw and both teams to score is priced at 7/2.
Anthony Scully will still be buzzing from his brace last weekend. The 22-year-old will be looking to build on his double in this one, and the Watford-born striker is available at 13/2 to open the scoring.
