Liverpool Prediction

Liverpool held what was considered to be a commanding 10-point lead over title rivals, Manchester City back in December but they now trail The Citizens by one point as we head into this Sunday’s crucial top flight action.

The Reds could be as far as four points behind Manchester City if City beat Watford in the later kick-off on Saturday evening, so either way, Liverpool will be desperate to take all three points in their clash with Burnley.

Liverpool bring an eight match unbeaten run into Sunday’s game which includes wins against Brighton, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Watford, but surprisingly, the hosts have also been involved in a number of draws as well (4 to be exact) with stalemates against Leicester City, west Ham, Manchester United and their local derby with Everton.

These stalemates have cost Liverpool ground and allowed Manchester City to reduce the points deficit over time, but with an impressive home record of 12-2-0 40/7 behind them, Liverpool should assert their authority over Burnley on Sunday.

The goals have also flowed at Anfield with the combination of Liverpool winning and Over 2.5 goals scored coming home in 9 of their 14 home matches to date.

Key-Facts – Liverpool v Burnley

  • 9 of Liverpool’s 14 home matches have seen Liverpool win and Over 2.5 goals
  • 8 of Burnley’s 15 away matches have resulted in over 2.5 goals
  • Burnley have conceded 11 goals away at top six opposition so far

Burnley Prediction

Following an encouraging run of eight matches without defeat themselves, Burnley have since slumped to back-to-back defeats against Newcastle United and Crystal Palace which has once again brought about the clouds of uncertainty around Turf Moor as the visitors are just five points above the relegation zone.

Things were looking on the up for Sean Dyche’s men as they recorded a recent 2-1 home win over high-flying Tottenham at Turf Moor just a couple of weeks ago, but the recent back-to-back losses mean The Clarets will continue to nervously look over their shoulders ahead of their difficult trip to Anfield on Sunday.

With a fairly average looking away record of 3-4-8 14/27 on the road, Burnley will be up against it at Liverpool, despite recording away wins at Huddersfield Town and Brighton, these pale into insignificance when up against a team chasing for the league title.

8 of Burnley’s 15 away matches have resulted in over 2.5 goals, and they’ve conceded 5 at Manchester City, 1 at Tottenham, 3 at Arsenal and 2 at Manchester united to date on their travels.

Betting Tips Verdict

Liverpool know they must win this game either way and goal difference could yet play a part in deciding the title.
