Football – England – FA Cup Betting Tips

The third round of the FA Cup starts on Friday night with a real cracker to start the proceedings with a merseyside local derby between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield, as the big guns join the lower league minnows in this round.

Being in fourth place in the Premier League and some 18 points adrift of league leaders, Manchester City, Liverpool may be among a few of the top half of the Premier League who will take the FA Cup a little more seriously as another way of securing european football next season. The Reds stand a pretty good chance of going deep into this competition, but they’ll need to be on their game against a keen Everton side here.

Liverpool still remain unbeaten on home turf in this regular season as they’ve fought on two fronts to date – league and Champions League, and they’ll need no motivation to be up for this clash either! Although Klopp may rotate his squad, this gives the fringe players a chance to nail down first team places.

Everton come into this merseyside derby in much better shape than the start of the season as the incoming influence of manager, Sam Allardyce, has steadied The Toffees ship despite recent back-to-back defeats in the league to Bournemouth and Manchester United.

Prior to the defeat at Bournemouth, Everton had put together a more promising run of four matches without defeat which included wins at Apollon in the Europa League, and a 1-0 win at Newcastle United, and they showed greater resilience in their last meeting at Anfield as they held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw.

I think this game will be a more open affair, and I can see both teams hitting the back of the net again at good odds.
