The opening weekend over Leeds may have been more dramatic than Jurgen Klopp would have liked but it was much more like the champions last week. Chelsea may have been reduced to 10 men but Liverpool were the dominant team and easily brushed aside the team who finished in third place last season. Sadio Mane was the hero getting both goals and it means that the deadly duo of him and Mohammed Salah have started the season in terrific form and full of confidence. The two got 37 league goals between them last season and have five already in this campaign.
Liverpool have won their last four home games against Arsenal in the Premier League and scored 15 goals in the process. It’s clearly a fixture that Klopp has excelled in but knows that the Gunners under Mikel Arteta are a different proposition.

The way in which Arsenal finished last season indicated that the future was bright under Arteta. A win in the FA Cup final over Chelsea was clearly the highlight but there has been noticeable improvement in so many aspects of their game. Whilst it’s been a good start, Arsenal have been here before as recently as last season. Then under the care of Unai Emery the Gunners won their first two matches before travelling to Anfield in their third game. They lost that 3-1 and didn’t really recover from it.
Whilst they have come a long way, this is a huge test and they have to show that character and resilience and attempt to get a first point in five league games at this venue.
