Liverpool – Refreshed Mane loves facing Palace?
Top of their domestic league – currently a shared honour with Chelsea and Man United – and Champions League group. Crystal Palace – Edouard done enough to earn first start?
The Eagles are soaring. After failing to score across their opening three games of the season, they have now scored five in the last two with three coming in last week’s 3-0 victory over Tottenham. But they are expected to be brought back down to earth with aplomb this weekend, tasked with reining in a confident Liverpool side looking to inflict a ninth consecutive Premier League defeat on the team from South London.
Patrick Viera has his first win as a manager in England. It was a thoroughly deserved one at that, with Palace extremely good value last time out against London rivals Spurs, even if all three of the goals arrived once their opponent was reduced to ten men. Odsonne Edouard netted his first goals in English football, scoring a late brace from the bench, and must surely be in line for his first since joining from Celtic.
Having dug deep to earn a 2-2 draw at high-flyers West Ham the time before, Palace will head up to Merseyside with the wind beneath their wings. In fact, this is their longest unbeaten run in the league since April, last managing successive wins way back in February. However, as the team with the second fewest amount of shots on target (9) so far this season, they must produce a clinical display at Anfield.
