Liverpool Preview – Can Liverpool extend lead in group?
Last week’s 1-0 win away from home in Amsterdam against Ajax handed Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp the perfect start to this season’s Champions League campaign and having also registered a 2-1 home win over Sheffield United in the Premier League on the weekend, Liverpool will be seeking a third win on the trot in all competitions on Tuesday night.
Liverpool had previously experienced something of a wobble by their standards as The Reds were dumped out of the League Cup on penalties by Arsenal which was followed by a heavy 7-2 loss to Aston Villa and were held by Everton to a 2-2 draw in the recent merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
Results at home in the Champions League have been strong though for Liverpool who have suffered just one defeat at Anfield out of their last 18 matches which was to Atletico Madrid (and in extra-time), which also includes 12 wins for the hosts.
Midtjylland Preview – Can Midtjylland stay in touch?
A heavy and comprehensive 4-0 defeat at home to Atalanta on Matchday 1 gave Danish outfit, Midtjylland the worst possible start to their Champions League campaign and they face an extremely tough trip to merseyside on Matchday 2 for this upcoming clash against Liverpool.
With just one defeat out of their last nine matches in all competitions, recent results haven’t been too bad for the visitors and includes wins against Young Boys and Slavia Prague in the earlier rounds of the Champions League qualifiers.
However, although they’ve lost just one of their previous five away ties in this competition, this will be Midtjylland’s toughest test yet, especially at Anfield where, even without the crowds, is an imposing place for any team to visit let alone a team with limited European experience such as Midtjylland.
