London Irish will be hoping to make the most of this opportunity on home soil, their first of the new season.

The Exiles narrowly lost at Worcester last weekend to open the campaign with.

They will be favourites for the visit of Leicester, who pounded their way to a great opening success over Gloucester.

London Irish Preview – Can Irish recover from opening defeat?

London Irish suffered a bit of heartbreak last weekend as they lost 11-10 at Sixways against Worcester.

The Exiles were on the backfoot for pretty much the entire first half of that fixtures, but hung in there.

After scoring a second half try to pull themselves back into the game, they then gave one up just a few minutes later.

That has left them with only the one success from their last 12 matches in the Premiership. That lone success was a victory at Exeter in September.

So the Exiles are running as the 8/11 odds-on favourites for a win in this game, which is being played at the Community Stadium in Brentford* (odds taken 20:20 GMT Friday 27th November).

It is worth having a look back at their home record from the previous campaign.

That doesn’t make particularly great reading for the Exiles, who won only two of their eleven home fixtures.

One of those was against Gloucester, the other against Leicester.

It was a 36-13 win that the Exiles took over the Tigers in last season’s home fixture against them.

Our betting prediction:
Leicester 1-7 Winning Margin
7/2

The Exiles finished in 10th place in last season’s Premiership with an overall W6 D1 L15 record.

Leicester were on the only team to score fewer points than what the Exiles managed over the course of the campaign.

The Exiles produced 50 tries last season against just 35 that the Tigers came up.

In their last eight games against The Tigers, London Irish have managed to produce only one victory, which was at the Madejski Stadium in November 2019.

Leicester Preview – Tigers arrive on a positive note

Leicester Tigers opened their new season in fine fashion as they collected a 38-15 home success at Welford Road against Glocuester.

They were well up at 22-8 at the halftime break in that one and cruised the second half.

So that means that the Tigers, who are even money for the win, arrive in a positive frame of mind* (odds taken 20:20 GMT Friday 27th November).

Just like it was for London Irish, last season’s Premiership campaign was a tough one for Leicester who finished with a W6 D1 L15 record also.

But they were worse off than the Exiles in the points differential.

But the way that they applied themselves last weekend could give them a bit of momentum to move forward with this weekend.

There is that strong recent head to head record that they have taken against London Irish to bear in mind as well for rugby betting.

Leicester were a try-shy side in the Premiership last season so will have been delighted at picking up a bonus point last weekend for four of them.

Leicester do look a threat in this one and the handicap line is as tight as it gets.

A Leicester +1 is at 5/6 which doesn’t look like getting stuck into against the match outright* (odds taken 20:20 GMT Friday 27th November).

But then as we do think that the Tigers can bring momentum, the 11/8 on a Leicester -3 handicap piques interest* (odds taken 20:20 GMT Friday 27th November).

In last season’s top flight, Leicester failed to collect a single away win in their campaign, going D1 L10 only.

The last time that the Tigers won back to abc league games was in October 2018.

London Irish vs Leicester Betting Advice

The Tigers haven’t actually won on the road in any competition since December last year when they beat Calvisano in European action.

So they are a risk without question. But they should be buoyed by those four points against Glocuester last weekend.

We think that this will play a big part in the outcome of this one.

The even money on a Tigers outright is an option to consider for rugby betting* (odds taken 20:20 GMT Friday 27th November).

Key Facts – London Irish vs Leicester Betting Tip

  • London Irish lost last weekend 11-10 against Worcester
  • London Irish have won only one of their last eight against Leicester
  • Leicester failed to win a league road game last season in the Premiership

We don’t really see a great deal of value floating around in the handicap rugby betting market unusually.

But we do, however, see a nice option of a Leicester 1-7 winning option at 7/2* (odds taken 20:20 GMT Friday 27th November).

If a win comes for the visitors, it is hard to see it being by anything more than that range.
