Having run away with the League One title last season, Luton are finding life challenging in the Championship. Graeme Jones’ team are just one position and two points outside the bottom three. In terms of their cup form they have been very good in reaching this stage. The manager will be under no illusions as to the test that Leicester present but it’s one he’ll be looking forward to.

There were plenty tipping Leicester to be the side who breakthrough the traditional top six such is the confidence behind the club following Brendan Rodgers appointment. The former Liverpool and Celtic boss arrived towards the end of last season and had an instant impact. The evidence of this year suggests that they are capable of upsetting some of the bigger clubs and finishing in the European places. The Foxes come into this game in third place having come from behind to beat Tottenham at home on Saturday. An unlucky defeat away to Manchester United is their only defeat to date this season and they are living up to their dangerous billing.
As well as finishing higher in the league Leicester have also been tipped to be a threat in both cups. That was emphasised by Rodgers team selection in the last round. Leicester required penalties to see off Newcastle away from home but it was a very strong team he selected. He’s likely to do similar on Tuesday.

A home time against Premier League opposition is probably the perfect tie for Luton who would be unlikely to view this competition as a priority. Leicester will be keen to avoid any surprises as they look to move on and continue what has been an excellent start to their season. The difference in squad strength is highlighted by James Justin. The full back moved to Leicester from Luton in the summer having been excellent for his former employers. It’s been touted he could make his first appearance for his new club in this game.
This could be a tie that sees a few goals scored in it. Leicester have conceded in five of their last six games across all competitions. Nine of the 10 games that Luton have played this season have ended with at least three goals in them and over 2.5 goals looks an obvious selection on Tuesday.
