Nathan Jones’ Luton Town and Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough meet at Kenilworth Road this Tuesday night in EFL Championship action. The Hatters may have lost at Deepdale last time out, but Luton have made a superb start to their league campaign. Boro are one of the more unpredictable teams in the division, though Town are the slight favourites with the bookies. In truth, this fascinating fixture could go either way in Bedfordshire. Luton Town Preview – Will the Hatters bounce back after defeat?

Nathan Jones’ Luton Town have made a strong start to their season. The Hatters were in the play-offs ahead of last weekend’s fixtures after five wins, six draws and three defeats from their opening 14. However, they slipped down to tenth after a 2-0 reverse at Preston North End last Saturday.

Luton have hardly put a foot wrong at Kenilworth Road this season. Their one and only home defeat was a shock 5-0 loss to Birmingham City back in August, and they have gone one to win two and draw three of their next five. So far, Jones’ boys have picked up home league wins over Peterborough United, Coventry City and Hull City.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score
5/6

Luton could be a dark horse in the race for the top six this season. After slipping up at the weekend, can the Hatters hit back with three points in front of their home fans on Tuesday?

Middlesbrough Preview – Can Boro make it five wins from seven?

Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough have blown hot and cold of late. Inconsistency hampered their play-off hopes last season, and Warnock & Co. will be desperate to avoid a repeat this time around.

After successive 2-0 wins over the likes of Peterborough, Barnsley and Cardiff City, Boro lost at home to Birmingham by the same scoreline last time out. Nevertheless, they have shown a big improvement of late, winning four of six.

Middlesbrough were not their usual selves against Birmingham on Saturday, with two goals in three second-half minutes taking the game away from them. They have been priced at 11/5 to bounce back with a big three points from this one.

Luton Town vs Middlesbrough Betting Advice

Both league matches between the two last season were tight and tense affairs. Middlesbrough edged the meeting at the Riverside Stadium thanks to Chuba Akpom’s goal. The game at Kenilworth Road ended in a 1-1 draw, with Duncan Watmore cancelling out Glen Rea’s opener.

Key Facts – Luton Town vs Middlesbrough Betting Tip

  • Luton have suffered just one home defeat this term
  • Middlesbrough have taken nine points from the last 12 on offer
  • The last meeting between the pair ended all square

On paper, there is not a lot to split Luton and Middlesbrough right now. The teams are level on 21 points, with Luton just ahead on goal difference. With that in mind, we fancy the pair to cancel each other out at Kenilworth Road. The draw is priced at 23/10.

Luton have opened the scoring in three of their last four home games, netting nine goals in the process. We are backing the hosts to score first in this one, which is nicely priced at 4/5.
