Luxembourg Preview – Can the Red Lions cause a huge upset?

Luxembourg have had an excellent campaign for their standards. After four matches played, they have won two and lost two. They currently sit in third spot, five points behind the Serbians.

Luxembourg’s campaign started in March with a memorable 1-0 win over Republic of Ireland in Dublin, with Gerson Rodrigues scoring the only goal five minutes from time. They then lost to Portugal before beating Azerbaijan 2-1 at home at the start of last month. Last time out, though, the Red Lions lost 4-1 in Belgrade.

Our betting prediction:
Serbia to win both halves

This will be another arduous task for Luc Holtz’s boys, but they will certainly enjoy the occasion whatever the result. The bookies are offering 8/1 for a home win.

Serbia Preview – Serbians to move on to 14 points?

Serbia have had a solid qualifying campaign so far, winning three and drawing two of five. When the draw as announced, the Serbians and Portugal were set to battle for top spot, and that is exactly how it has panned out thus far. Serbia are currently just two points away from the Portuguese.

Serbia beat Ireland 3-2 at home in game one before drawing 2-2 with Portugal. They then picked up wins over Azerbaijan and Luxembourg. The Eagles were disappointed in their last fixture, though, conceding late to draw 1-1 with Ireland in Dublin.

Luxembourg vs Serbia Betting Advice

Serbia ran out 4-1 winners in the reverse fixture in Belgrade a month back. Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic bagged a brace, while an own goal and a late effort from Nikola Milenkovic added gloss to the scoreline.

They also went head-to-head in UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying. Serbia did the double, winning 3-1 on the road and 3-2 on home soil.

Key Facts – Luxembourg vs Serbia Betting Tip

  • Luxembourg have won two and lost two so far
  • Serbia are unbeaten in five Group A games (three wins, two draws)
  • The Serbians won the reverse game in Belgrade by four goals to one

Serbia will be gunning for no less than three points in Luxembourg. With Portugal just two points ahead at the top, the Eagles will be hoping to keep the pressure on until they meet on the final matchday of qualifying next month.

They were too strong for Luxembourg in Belgrade, and we fancy Serbia to secure a comfortable victory here. Have a punt on the away team to win -1 at 6/5.

Aleksandar Mitrovic has been on fire for club and country this season, scoring 12 goals in 13 appearances. Two of those came against Luxembourg last month. The Fulham striker is available at 11/4 to open the scoring in this one.
