Lyon return to home turf for this important Friday night clash with Reims having secured four points from their last two matches in the French top flight with a 3-0 home win over Monaco which was followed by a solid point on the road with a 1-1 draw at fourth placed Montpellier.
Lyon sit in third spot but are just two points behind second placed Lille so the hosts know that a win tonight would se them leapfrog Lille into second place behind Ligue 1 leaders, PSG. The hosts have lost just once in their last nine matches overall, so this could be a real possibility for Lyon.
Lyon hold a decent home record of 6-2-2 16/7 at the Groupama Stadium which includes just one defeat from their last seven on home soil which was a surprising 2-0 reverse to Stade Rennes, but recent wins against Nimes, Saint-Etienne and Monaco have kept the hosts in serious contention for an automatic Champions League spot next season.
Midfielder Aouar (6 goals) along with forwards Depay (5 goals), Traore (5 goals), Dembele and Fekir (4 goals apiece) provide the impressive firepower for Lyon.
Reims Prediction
9th placed Reims have also produced some encouraging results of late as the visitors have lost just once in their last six matches overall which was a 1-0 defeat at home to Toulouse, but wins over Guingamp and Strasbourg along with three draws have maintained Reims’ position in the top half of Ligue 1.
It should be noted however, that the two recent wins against Guingamp and Strasbourg were both recorded at their Stade Auguste-Delaune II, while away from home, Reims possess a more ordinary looking record of 2-4-3 6/11.
Reims have been involved in a number of draws so far this season (8 in fact overall) with only Caen (9) being involved in more stalemates than them, so we need to be careful here. That said, Reims have managed just two away wins from their last 16 matches on their travels, and have failed to score in 7 of these 16.

Lyon have shown consistent form throughout this season and also possess some dangerous attacking personnel, so the hosts should at least outscore Reims here.
