For a side to not just beat, but absolutely wipe the floor with an elite outfit such as Barcelona, they have to be something really special but this is exactly what Bayern Munich did to Messi, Suarez and Co in the quarter-finals as the German champions romped to an 8-2 victory over the Catalan.
At 1-1, Barcelona had a couple of chances which, if scored, may well have changed the course of the match but Bayern got their noses in front and never looked back as Barcelona were left chasing shadows and simply had no answer to Bayern’s attacking blitzkrieg style.
It’s hard to see how Bayern Munich can be stopped now, especially as their results away from home have also been impressive with the Germans putting together a 14-match unbeaten run on their travels in the Champions League, winning 11 of these and scoring a total of 45 goals in the process!
