Lyon Preview – Can Lyon find what would be just their second win in six league games?

It may just be a few games into the new season but Rudi Garcia already knows he won’t be in charge of Lyon come the start of the next campaign. It’s always an awkward position for the coach and the players to be in and going by Lyon’s start it’s not one they are handling all that well. Five games into the league season and Garcia’s men have won only one of those matches. That was their first game  when beating Dijon 4-1.

Since then, Lyon have drawn three and lost one which has already put them off the pace compared to the likes of Rennes and PSG at the top of the table.

Marseille Preview – Will Marseille bounce back to record their first win since winning in Paris?

The arrival of Andre Villas-Boas last summer was something of a gamble for Marseille but it it was one that paid off as the club finished second and qualified for the Champions League. A title challenge up against PSG is always going to be unlikely due to the respective finances but expectations would certainly have been for them to consolidate their position as second best.

So far, the signs are that they are going to have to be even better in order to repeat that feat.

Like Lyon, Marseille will be playing their sixth game on Sunday. The undoubted highlight so far was the 1-0 win away to PSG in one of the most infamous Le Classique’s in recent memories. That was a second straight win to begin the campaign but Marseille have since gone off course. Villas-Boas’ team have not won a game since.

Having hit four goals in their first games, Marseille have also found goals hard to come by. It’s just two goals in the last three games – earning them draws against Lille and Metz. Both of which have been at home.

Recently this is a game where we see a few goals. There have have been 22 goals in the last six league meetings but recent form doesn’t suggest that will continue. The two teams are struggling for goals at the moment and confidence is not at it’s highest.

Ly0n’s last four games have all had two or fewer goals whilst that’s the same for Marseille. I’m happy to make under 2.5 goals the selection as a result of that.
