Following a disappointing run of three matches without a win in the National League, Macclesfield Town will be looking to assert their authority at their Moss Rose ground on Saturday afternoon when they play host to bottom club, Guiseley.
Disappointing draws at home with Solihull Moors 0-0 and Torquay United 1-1 were either side of a 6-0 hammering dished out by Fylde in their last away match, but with a home record of 7-6-3 20/16 under their belts, along with an unbeaten seven match sequence under their belts, The Silkmen will be keen to return to the top of the division.
Macclesfield have recently surrendered top spot to Wrexham, but with recent wins over Wrexham 4-1 along with victories over Halifax and Sutton United, they should bounce back with a win today. Look out for forward Wilson (11 goals) up front here.
Guiseley sit bottom of the National League following a miserable run of four straight defeats in the non league top flight as they’ve slumped to losses against Eastleigh, Fylde, Dover Athletic and Wrexham. Although three of these four defeats were away from home, there’s likely to be no respite for the visitors as they hit the road again to Macclesfield this Saturday.
Guiseley are without a win from their last six overall, and indeed have captured just one win from their last 12 matches, so it’s no surprise to see them propping up the table ahead of this encounter; in addition, Guiseley have lost their last four away matches on the trot amidst an overall record of 2-3-11 14/39.
Given Guiseley’s poor sequence of results in recent times, I’ll back Macclesfield for the points in this one.
