Macclesfield Town Prediction

Macclesfield Town earned themselves a survival lifeline last Saturday when they secured a vital three points with a 2-0 win away at Yeovil Town which reduced the points deficit to just three behind their west country opponents, and they now return to home ground to take on Stevenage.

The recent win against Yeovil Town was desperately needed as The Silkmen had slumped to a seven match sequence without a win which included defeats to Cheltenham Town, Mansfield Town, Bury and MK Dons.

However, hope is not lost as three of these aforementioned losses were handed out to Macclesfield away from home, while at the Moss Rose, Macclesfield have lost just twice in their last nine matches on home soil.

These defeats were to Swindon Town and MK Dons while their home record stands at 4-7-7 19/29 but they’ll take confidence from wins against Yeovil Town, Crawley Town and Oldham Athletic as well as points picked up in draws with Port Vale, Tranmere Rovers, Crewe Alexandra and Colchester United.

Key-Facts – Macclesfield Town v Stevenage

  • Macclesfield have lost just 2 of their last 9 home matches in League Two
  • Stevenage have won just 1 of their last 7 away matches
  • Stevenage have kept just 3 clean sheets away from home all season

Stevenage Prediction

Stevenage sit in 10th place and trail 7th placed Exeter City by a five point margin as they prepare for their long trip up to Macclesfield Town this Saturday. The visitors have gained just one win from their last seven matches overall which has slowed down their progress as well as losing ground on the play-off pack with their hopes of a top seven finish starting to dwindle.

The visitors picked up all three points with a 2-0 home win against inconsistent Swindon Town, but defeats to Tranmere Rovers, Northampton Town and Bury have dented Stevenage’s play-off hopes, while their results away from home have also suffered.

An ordinary looking away record of 5-6-8 21/28 includes just one win out of their last seven away matches which was a 2-1 win at Morecambe, and they’ve drawn their last three away matches on the trot with stalemates against Lincoln City, Oldham Athletic and MK Dons.

With Stevenage managing just three clean sheets to date on their travels in League Two, this perhaps leaves the door open for Macclesfield Town to take advantage here.

Betting Tips Verdict

Macclesfield are fighting for their League Two survival and will have been boosted by last week’s win away at Yeovil Town. Take the hosts with the draw no bet option in this one.
