Africa Cup of Nations at Marathonbet

The remaining two quarter-final matches in the Africa Cup of Nations will also be played on Thursday night, and our next preview features the clash between Madagascar and Tunisia as the betting tips continue at the Al Salam Stadium with a place in the semi-finals at stake.

Madagascar Prediction – Can Madagascar keep dream alive?

Not many people would have predicted that Madagascar would line up in the quarter-finals in the Africa Cup of Nations, but here they are.

The underdogs have exceeded all expectations as they’ve made it through to the last eight of this tournament, and deserve to be here on merit too.

Madagascar still remain unbeaten in this year’s competition as they came through the group stages unscathed.

The unfancied underdogs finished as unlikely winners of a Group B which consisted of Nigeria, Guinea and Burundi.

A 2-2 draw with Guinea started things off for Madagascar in their opening group match, and they’ve gone from strength to strength since.

Back-to-back wins in Group B over Burundi 1-0 and most impressive of all, a 2-0 win against Nigeria booked their place in the knock-out rounds.

A round of 16 win over Congo DR, albeit by virtue of a penalty shoot-out win, saw the ‘minnows’ through to these quarter-finals.

A lot of water has passed under the bridge since Madagascar last played Tunisia, as this was back in 2001, when Tunisia won 2-0.

Tunisia Prediction – Can Tunisia extend unbeaten run?

A run of 7 matches without defeat in all competitions is the solid sequence of results that Tunisia will be bringing into this quarter-final clash.

This unbeaten run consists of 4 wins and 3 draws – the latter being all three results that Tunisia could manage during the group stages.

Tunisia appeared to be entering this year’s Africa Cup of Nations with a winning momentum behind them as they won 3 on the trot prior to the tournament.

Wins against Iraq, Croatia and Burundi seemed to set them up for continued success during the group stages at the very east.

Although they remained unbeaten in Group E, they could only muster stalemates with Angola, Mali and Mauritania in 1-1, 1-1 and 0-0 draws respectively.

Nevertheless, Tunisia scraped through to the knock-out rounds by virtue of being one of the best 3rd placed finishers in the groups.

However, despite bundling Ghana out of the competition in the previous round of 16, Tunisia have still yet to win a match in normal time.

Key-Facts – Madagascar v Tunisia

  • Madagascar still remain unbeaten in this year’s competition
  • Tunisia have still yet to win a match in normal time
  • Madagascar and Tunisia last played each other 18 years ago, back in 2001

Betting Tips Verdict

The odds are priced way too low for Tunisia who have failed to win a match in normal time so far, so Madagascar with the handicap looks the best value here.
