The home side are perched just above the early relegation places in the non-league top flight as they’ve gained just two league wins so far this season from their eight matches played to date. After a promising start to the new campaign, Maidstone have slumped to five defeats in their last six matches.
Defeats to Halifax Town, Leyton Orient, Maidenhead United, Boreham Wood and Gateshead have resulted in the Kent outfit sliding down the league table, and they’ll head into tonight’s match looking to avoid a fourth straight loss.
However, all is not lost as the hosts have scored in 13 of their last 15 home matches and they can generally be relied upon to score on home turf. Midfielder Turgott (5 goals) leads the way for the hosts.
Sutton United currently sit in 10th place on the National League ladder but they’ve suffered just one defeat so far this season which was a recent 2-1 loss away at Aldershot Town. Although the visitors are without a win from their last four matches, three of these have been stalemates against Solihull Moors, Fylde and Halifax Town respectively.
The visitors have scored in 19 of their last 21 away matches so despite losing last time out at Aldershot, Sutton will fancy their chances of hitting the back of the net tonight with the additional incentive of all three points possibly lifting them close to the top seven.
Striker Lafayette (3 goals) looks the most likely for Sutton who will be wanting to return to winning ways here.
