A welcome and desperately needed win last time out in the Bundesliga saw Mainz pick up all three points with a resounding 3-1 win away from home at Freiburg last weekend but although they return to the more familiar surroundings of their Opel Arena, they face a tough task against Hoffenheim.

Early season victories over Koln and an impressive 4-1 home win over Bayern Munich seemed to promise great things for the visitors but they still have a chance of getting something out of this trip to Mainz considering their host’s struggles on home turf.
