We’ve reached the 1st leg stage of the Europa League play-offs on Thursday night and our next preview features a clash between Swedish club, Malmo, and Israeli outfit, Bnei Yehuda, as the betting tips continue at the Swedbank Stadion.
Malmo Prediction – Can Malmo secure 1st leg lead?
Thursday night’s hosts, Malmo, have a few tricky matches coming up as they prepare for this 1st leg play-off in the Europa League against Israeli side, Bnei Yehuda, with the hosts no doubt keen to take a lead into the 2nd leg of this important clash.
Malmo started their journey through the early rounds of the Europa League at the 1st qualifying round stage where they registered a resounding 11-0 aggregate win against Irish side Ballymena United, and more was to come from Malmo.
A 2nd qualifying round win against Serbian side, Cukaricki, 3-1 on aggregate was mainly thanks to Malmo securing the tie away from home by a 3-1 margin away from home in the 2nd leg. The 3rd qualifying round resulted in another 3-1 aggregate win, this time over Bosnia-Herzegovina outfit, Zrinjski which enabled them to progress to the play-offs.
Home form overall for Malmo has also been impressive as the hosts have lost just 1 of their last 19 matches on home turf at their Swedbank Stadion, a run that includes 15 wins during this impressive period.
Bnei Yehuda Prediction – Can Bnei Yehuda keep pace with Malmo?
Overall form for the visitors, Bnei Yehuda, hasn’t been quite so impressive as the Israeli outfit have managed to record just 1 win out of their last 7 matches in all competitions, that being a 2-1 home win in the 2nd leg of their previous round tie against Azerbaijan side, Neftci.
However, 5 defeats from these last 7 matches show a vulnerable side of Bnei Yehuda, and if they’re not fully focused against Malmo, it could be a long 90 minutes in Sweden for the visitors.
Bnei Yehuda reached these play-offs of the Europa League thanks to a 4-3 aggregate win over the aforementioned Netfci, but although their results away from home in this competition don’t appear to be too bad (losing just 2 of their last 9 away matches), these were at the likes of Helsingborg 3-0 and PAOK 4-1 respectively.
The Israeli side’s one stand-out victory in the Europa League came in the shape of a 1-0 win away at Russian Premier League side, Zenit, back in August 2017, but they’ll have to pull out the stops again if they’re to beat Malmo I fancy.
Key-Facts – Malmo v Bnei Yehuda
- Malmo have won 15 of their last 19 home matches in all competitions
- Malmo have lost just 1 of their last 19 matches at their Swedbank Stadion
- Bnei Yehuda have lost 5 of their last 7 matches overall in all competitions
Betting Tips Verdict
Malmo are in full swing at home and will be hard to beat by any team, let alone a side that haven’t really faced many top quality teams in their previous Europa League history.
