Manchester City v Manchester United Betting Tip Man City – 7 April 2018

City to win title in style.

Premier League Tips

Saturday 7th April 2018 Kick off 1730hrs Manchester City v Manchester United Football – England – Premier League It’s not often you get a chance to win the title against not only your closest rivals in terms of league position, but also the other club you share a city with and have lived in the shadow of their success for the most part. That’s the situation that Manchester City find themselves in on Saturday evening though as they bid to clinch their first title since 2014. For the red half of Manchester they will be desperate to halt the celebrations for a week or so yet, although they are no doubt resigned to the fact that the Premier League trophy will be residing at the Etihad for the next 12 months.

It’s been a trying few days for Man City on the back of their 3-0 humbling at Anfield in the first leg of their quarter final tie with Liverpool. Although the second leg is still to come, it looks unlikely that Pep Guardiola’s men will be capable of turning that deficit around – despite the talent they possess. Before the game there was a lot of focus on the arrival of City’s team bus at the stadium but Guardiola was quick to dismiss any notion that those events affected his team’s performance on the park. It has deflated the build up Saturday’s game as a result as there was real hope amongst the club’s supporters that this year would be their maiden victory at Europe’s top table. Should City exit on Tuesday then it would mean they have went from a possible quadruple a little over a month ago to winning the Premier League and League Cup. It’s not a bad haul in reality but considering the money that has been spent on this group of players and coaches, it’s arguably the minimum you’d expect. Nevertheless, beating your arch rivals and winning the league on the same day should be enough motivation to revitalise this City team.

Most other seasons and United would be sitting pretty at the top of the table or, at least, on the coattails of the leaders. This hasn’t been just any other season though, as City have shown a consistency that we have rarely seen from an English team. It’s left Jose Mourinho and his players trailing from the outset and they have never looked like getting close in all honesty. The Red Devils still have a battle on their hands to secure second spot which, although it make little material difference, will be the aim for Mourinho who we all know is keen to highlight how this season has been a vast improvement on the campaigns that have went before it. With Liverpool looking like they’ll be competing in the Champions League for the next month, it may just give United that extra bit of breathing space but they will have to maintain their standards in order to clinch second. The season itself could yet finish with silverware courtesy of the FA Cup, a competition they have reached the semi final of, but like their opponents this weekend, it’s somewhat underwhelming when you take into account how much money has been spent in the Mourinho era.

Manchester City v Manchester United Betting Tip

City went to Old Trafford shortly before Christmas and if there was any doubt as to who had the superior squad of players and collective ability, it was answered on that occasion. The game finished 2-1 but City were better all over the park and they will be hoping to prove that once again. On first look it would appear to be the perfect opportunity for them to get three points and secure the title but coming between their Champions League commitments, particularly on the back of their first leg trouncing. United may also look upon this differently as a game that doesn’t change much if they win – other than the bragging rights – but a game they will not want to lose and have front row seats to their rivals title party.

Guardiola may look to rest some players in a bid to give his side the best possible chance of turning their Champions League fortunes around, but it would likely come too soon for Sergio Aguero in any case. United have a full strength squad to choose from but that’s been the case many times already this season and they have failed to win at any of their immediate rivals home venues. I think that’s likely to continue this weekend and although United may look to stifle their hosts, I fancy City to have too much quality and eventually find a way through to ensure they win the title at the first time of asking – rubbing their rivals’ noses in it.
