Manchester United Prediction

It’s almost been a season of two halves for Manchester United as they started their Premier League campaign under former manager, Jose Mourinho, but have finished under former player, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It seemed to be heading for a first half of mediocrity under Mourinho as Solskjaer had his new side firing on all cylinders in the second half of the season after he took over the reigns, but the previous old problems seem to have re-surfaced in recent weeks.

United have managed to scrape just 3 wins together from their last 9 matches overall in the top flight which were victories over Southampton 3-2, Watford 2-1 and West Ham 2-1, but within this very ordinary sequence of results, the Red Devils have also suffered 4 defeats against Arsenal, Wolves, Everton (in a 4-0 rout at Goodison Park) and local rivals, Manchester City.

Form at Old Trafford has been solid enough with a record of 10-6-2 33/23, but they’ve rarely demolished teams on home turf this term; just 2 of Manchester United’s 18 home matches have seen the hosts record wins of 3+ goal margins (v Fulham and Bournemouth).

Cardiff City Prediction

Cardiff City will bow out of the Premier League in one of the biggest grounds of the division as they make their way to Old Trafford, no doubt bitterly disappointed with being relegated from the top flight, especially in the manner of how they eventually succumbed to the drop.

The Bluebirds have lost 9 of their last 11 matches in this relegation campaign, registering just 2 wins from this sequence which were victories against West Ham and Brighton, and this was a sharp decline in form indeed for Neil Warnock’s side who had lost just 3 of their 8 matches from Boxing Day to mid-February.

During that period, Cardiff City recorded wins over Leicester City, Bournemouth and Southampton, and it looked like the Welsh side would escape the drop, but the rot well and truly set in from the end of February to date.

Cardiff City’s away record stands at 3-2-13 11/31 which is admittedly a poor record, but The Bluebirds have rarely been thrashed on their travels this season; indeed, just 3 of Cardiff’s 18 away matches have seen the visitors lose by 3+ goals, so they stand a decent chance of keeping things reasonably close against an out-of-sorts Manchester United outfit here.

Key-Facts – Liverpool v Wolves

  • Just 2 of Manchester United’s 18 home matches have seen them win by 3+ goals
  • Just 3 of Cardiff’s 18 away matches have seen the visitors lose by 3+ goals
  • Man Utd have beaten Cardiff by 3+ goals in just 1 of their last 5 at Old Trafford

Betting Tips Verdict

Manchester United seem to have switched off in recent weeks and Cardiff can restore some pride by avoiding a heavy defeat here.
