Premier League Betting at Comeon

Manchester United Prediction

Manchester United suffered their first setback under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since he replaced former coach, Jose Mourinho, when United fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to French champions, PSG in the first leg of the round of 16 in the Champions League.

United had previously strung together an impressive 11-match sequence without defeat in all competitions since Solskjaer replaced Mourinho at the helm of the Red Devils, a run that included 10 wins and had lifted the hosts up into the top four of the Premier League and therefore contention for a Champions League berth next season.

Some would say the defeat to PSG was the defeat they needed to remain grounded ahead of their clash with Liverpool, but as Solskjaer is desperate to be awarded the role of Manchester United manager on a permanent basis, I fancy he’d have been bitterly disappointed with that midweek defeat.

Although United would be doing their crosstown rivals, City, a huge favour by beating Liverpool today, the hosts would be comforted by the fact they’d be strengthening their Champions League ambitions as well as denting Liverpool’s chances of a title – every cloud has a silver lining…!

Key-Facts – Manchester United v Liverpool

  • Manchester United have won 11 of their last 13 matches in all competitions
  • Arsenal have lost just once at home all season in the league
  • Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 6 encounters at home to Southampton

Liverpool Prediction

Liverpool know that all three points at old Trafford would mean a massive result in their bid to capture their first ever Premier League title and they have a game in hand over current league leaders, Manchester City, who are in League Cup action against Chelsea on Sunday, so the visitors could steal a march on their title rivals here.

Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw in their first leg of the round of 16 in the Champions League during the week by German champions, Bayern Munich, but before they prepare for a difficult looking second leg in Germany, The Reds have an extremely important date with Manchester United at Old Trafford this Sunday.

Liverpool bring a five match unbeaten run into this clash which includes wins over Brighton, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, although back-to-back draws with Leicester City and West Ham resulted in Liverpool giving up ground to Manchester City and manager Jurgen Klopp losing his cool.

Liverpool have suffered just one defeat so far this season but that was a 2-1 loss to Manchester City back in early January, and that result could yet prove to be pivotal in the title race which now looks to be a two-horse race between City and Liverpool after Tottenham lost at Burnley on Saturday.

Betting Tips Verdict

Manchester United will be desperate to bounce back here, especially against their old rivals, Liverpool, while the visitors know that all three points here would see them move top of the league again. This could end up a draw, but I fancy both teams to score in this one.
