Manchester United Prediction

Manchester United will face their biggest test yet under caretaker-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford when they host the French champions, PSG, at Old Trafford in the first leg of this mouthwatering Champions League tie with United looking to extend their unbeaten run to 13 matches in all competitions under the Norwegian manager.

If Solskjaer wants to nail down the United job full-time then a decent run in the Champions League would certainly boost his resume, and having clawed their way back into contention for a top four finish in the Premier League, I don’t think too many people would bet against the Red Devils right now.

The hosts are still a little way off the best they can possibly be but the likes of Pogba, Martial, Lingard and Rashford are all blossoming again under this new regime with Pogba in particular enjoying his football once more, scoring 8 goals in his last 10 appearances.

This Manchester United are a tale of two teams almost as under Mourinho, they finished runners-up to Juventus in Group H with an indifferent home record of 1-1-1 1/1, but post-Mourinho, the hosts look a totally different prospect as they go in search of a sixth home win from seven matches.

Key-Facts – Manchester United v PSG

  • Manchester United are unbeaten in their last 12 matches in all competitions
  • Neymar and Cavani are both expected to miss this first leg
  • PSG have won just 1 of their last 5 away matches in the Champions League

PSG Prediction

PSG recorded a 1-0 win over Bordeaux in the domestic Ligue 1 on the weekend but the big story in the fallout of this match was that their striker, Edinson Cavani (17 goals) is looking extremely unlikely to make this first leg in Manchester due to a muscle strain after scoring the penalty that earned the three points against their visitors.

With Neymar already ruled out through injury, it looks like their leading goalscorer Mbappe (18 goals) will shoulder the responsibility on his own up front for PSG, and it remains to be seen whether he can produce the same devastating form without his two star allies.

Last time out on the road in Ligue 1, PSG lost 2-1 at Lyon, while in the Champions League, although they won Group C and finished ahead of Liverpool, their results away from home were always entirely convincing.

A 3-2 loss at Liverpool was followed with a 1-1 draw against Napoli and it wasn’t until they faced the bottom team of the group in Crvena Zvezda that they ran out comfortable 4-1 winners.

Betting Tips Verdict

United’s confidence and momentum is increasing after every match while the absences of Neymar and Cavani will be big misses for the French visitors.
