Mansfield continue push for play-offs when Port Vale visit

League One/Two Tips

MANSFIELD TOWN v PORT VALE

Saturday 21st April 2018 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Football – England – League Two Betting Tips

Mansfield Town sit on the fringes of the play-off pack in League Two as they trail seventh placed Coventry City by just a single point ahead of their Saturday encounter with bottom half outfit Port Vale at their One Call Stadium.

However, any hopes of an automatic promotion spot received a serious blow following a recent four match losing streak which saw The Stags suffer defeats to Forest Green Rovers, Accrington Stanley, Luton Town and Crewe Alexandra, but a point in a 1-1 draw away at Stevenage and a 1-0 away win at Chesterfield have steadied the ship.

Mansfield now have home advantage here, but they come into this clash without a home win from their last five matches which includes three draws and two defeats within an overall record of  10-8-3  40/24. Forwards Rose (14 goals) and Hemmings (13 goals) are the main threats up front for the hosts.

Port Vale have produced some mixed results in recent weeks as they’ve gained wins over Chesterfield and Lincoln City, but have also been on the end of defeats to Exeter City and Crawley Town as well as draws with Stevenage, Wycombe Wanderers and Crewe Alexandra.

It’s been a frustrating season for Vale fans as their side reside in 19th place on the League Two ladder, but they’re virtually safe from any relegation worries as they hold a nine point lead over second from bottom club, Barnet, with just three league matches remaining.

Port Vale’s away from has let them down this season though, and they’ve failed to win any of their last ten matches on the road, while their overall away record stands at a disappointing  4-7-10  22/32. Striker Pope (16 goals) has returned to the club and must be respected.
