The 2nd legs of the 1st round matches of the Champions League will be played on Wednesday night and our next featured match sees Slovenian outfit, Maribor, taking on Icelandic side, Valur, as the betting tips continue at the Ljudski vrt.
Maribor Prediction – Can Maribor complete rout of Valur?
A 3-0 rout of Icelandic opponents, Valur, in last week’s 1st leg at the Vodafonevöllurinn in Reykjavik has all but secured Maribor’s passage into the next round.
Maribor now return to home turf and their Ljudski vrt ground for Wednesday night’s 2nd leg, firmly in the driving seat.
However, having lost their opening domestic Slovenian 1. SNL match of the season against Triglav on the weekend, the hosts will take nothing for granted here.
A surprise 2-1 loss at home to Triglav mean that Maribor should be fully focused on the job in hand in this Champions League 2nd leg.
Results at home have been sporadic during the off-season as the hosts have secured friendly wins over Dravinja and Gorica.
These wins included a 10-0 rout of Dravinja and a 4-1 win over Gorica, but the defeat to Triglav will have brought Maribor back down to earth.

Valur Prediction – Can Valur turn around 2nd leg?
The simple answer to this appears to be a big ‘no’ as Valur prepare for a difficult away tie in Slovenia on Wednesday night.
Prior to last week’s 1st leg with Maribor, Valur had registered 3 wins on the trot which were all gained in the Icelandic top flight.
Pepsideild league wins over Grindavik 1-0, HK 2-1 and a 3-1 home win over KA seemingly gave Valur a morale-boost ahead of this Champions League tie.
However, Valur’s dreams of progressing in this competition now lie in tatters following last week’s heavy 3-0 defeat at home to Maribor.
